Part Time Tile Job

Sunday, March 21st Jon demo'ed the second bathroom's floor so I could begin my FINAL tile job...at this house anyway. Working evenings, after work, between Davis Speed Center sessions, social events and my fav night of TV (Thursday) I finally finished laying the tile tonight (after working a tradeshow no less!) But my steadfast efforts are for the greater good...new carpet and I can't wait! I plan on grouting this weekend, especially since RITA is closed on Friday. My next OCD comtemplation is whether or not to repaint some higher traffic areas of the house pre-carpet...it's the smart thing to do...but do they need it? I hate painting, maybe I will get some quotes?!

*A special thank you to my friend Kathy for helping with all my pre-cuts! She is the best!*

'Merica: a definition

'Merica [mer-i-kuh]

-noun

1. 'Nited States

2. North 'Merica

3. Home of the brave, land of the free

4. Baseball and apple pie (and mullets)

While I am not a proponent of taking on additional personalities (meds are way to expensive and let's face it Obamacare is going nowhere fast), I am, however, recently on the alter ego bandwagon. While none I have tried on have ever really stuck, I may have recently stumbled into the perfect pseudo-me. She's a sassy little trailer nugget, proudly donning a tramp stamp, trucker hat and maybe some Baby Phat sweats. Classy like Snookie and Trashy like the Florida Panhandle, all wrapped up in a bow spouting the virtues of being red, white and blue to the core. And what alter ego doesn't need a soundbyte seemingly applicable to every situation real or imagined? And that my friend is where 'Merica was born. Step back and count, more times in a day than you have fingers or toes; situations, observations, objects, you name it, that can be deemed, "'Merican." A few quick examples: Hot Pockets? 'Merican! Cowboys? 'Merican! Red Meat, Apple Orchards and Dirt Bikes? 'Merican! Belt Buckles, T-Ball, Long Haul Truckin' and Lawn Ornaments? You got it, 'Merican!

So, how does this noun, verb, adjective (a Mad Libber's dream) fit into MY daily life? Well, it really doesn't. But for 5 lovely days in Aspen I was as 'Merican as they come! And oh, what wasn't? The gorgeous mountains, our fabulous digs, the HOT TUB (full of hotties), delicious meals, ski gondolas and the crisp, clean air. Now that's my kind of 'MERICA.

Aspen or Bust!

Emily: Huh! I expected the Rocky Mountains to be a little rockier than this.
Jon: I was thinking the same thing. That John Denver's full of shit, man.
We leave for Aspen on Wednesday night. Stay tuned for more details from our trip!!!
